Charles Schultz, proprietor of the Spring Creek Roller Mills, came to Missouri in 1864, after having traveled over a goodly portion of the United States. He first rented a small mill of J. L. Gregory, which he conducted for a considerable time and subsequently bought. On the site of this mill was formerly a powder mill, and then the gristmill which Mr. Schultz operated. In 1886 he built a larger mill on the same site, at a cost of $10,000, fitting it up with the latest improved machinery, two run of buhrs and rolls; it is a large and pretentious structure and not only does credit to the country in appearance, but is one of the most useful institutions in the neighborhood. It is run by the best water power in the county. Mr. Schultz is an expert miller and an enterprising citizen in every respect. In 1870 he married Mrs. Haase, and they are the parents of one son, Charles.
