Corbin, Kentucky, Sanders Court and Cafe, vintage postcard
A vintage postcard of Sanders Court & Cafe, Corbin, Kentucky. It was here in 1940 that Col. Harland Sanders perfected his "Secret Recipe" for fried chicken that he sold in his cafe. He sold his first franchise to the Harman's restaurant chain in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1952. Other restaurants were franchised in the mid-1950's and the company made rapid growth becoming known as Kentucky Fried Chicken. In 1964, Sanders sold the Kentucky Fried Chicken Company for $2 million dollars. Today, a rebuilt Harland Sanders Cafe and Museum is at the location of the original Sanders Court & Cafe, Corbin, Kentucky.

Harland Sanders, born September 9, 1890 at Henryville, Indiana; died Decemver 16, 1980 at Louisville, Kentucky, age 90.
Corbin is on the boundary of Whitley and Knox County, Kentucky.
