Below is a family biography included in the History of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania published in 1889 by A. Warner & Co.   These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. WILLIAM E. EDMUNDSON, farmer, post office Remington, was born in 1857, a son of James Edmundson, whose father, Joseph Edmundson, was born near McKeesport, and in 1828 came to Robinson township, where he purchased 250 acres of land; he married Sarah Muse, and they had five children, three of whom, John, Sarah and James, grew to maturity. James was the third son, and was born in 1828; he married Eliza Ann Robinson, and to them were born eleven children, four of whom are now living: William E., George R., Ida E. and James A. James, Sr., was killed in 1871 by a kick from a horse. His widow now resides at her home, part of a valuable tract of land left her by her husband. William, our subject, was educated at the public schools in the township; he married Lida J., daughter of John Harbison, and they have two children: Mary Ethel and Jessie Eliza. Mr. Edmundson now owns one hundred acres of land, which is part of the 250 acres purchased by his grandfather. His grandparents and his parents, until 1870, were members of the Methodist Church, since which time the family have been active members of the Presbyterian Church. Politically Mr. Edmundson is a republican.
