JACOB JOHNSTON (deceased) was born in 1816, a son of Andrew and Elizabeth (Guy) Johnston, of Allegheny county. Mr. Johnston was reared on a farm, educated at the common schools, and became a prominent and well-to-do farmer, owning two tracts of land. He married, in 1867, Mary Guy, daughter of Josiah and Margaret (Stewart) Guy, and four children blessed their union, three of whom are now living: Maggie E., Lizzie and William Guy. Mr. Johnston died in 1886. The Johnston and Guy families have long been connected with the Presbyterian Church, and have always taken a prominent part in that denomination, as elders, etc.
