ALEXANDER JOHNSTON, brick-manufacturer, Tarentum, was born in Indiana township, Allegheny county, Pa., in 1848. His parents were among the pioneers of Allegheny county. He enlisted in Co. H, 116th P. V. I., was wounded at Danville railroad, but served until the expiration of his term of enlistment. Returning in 1873, he married Miss May E. Mitchell, and located in Pittsburgh, where they remained nearly a year, and in 1874 removed to Tarentum, purchased the works he now owns, and is engaged in the manufacture of brick.
