A. INSKEEP, lumberman, McKeesport, is a native of Belmont county, Ohio, where he was reared and educated. He was a soldier in the civil war, enlisting in May, 1861, in Co. H, 7th O. V. I., and participating in the first battle of Winchester, Port Republic, Cedar Mountain and other engagements; at the battle of Cedar Mountain, Aug. 9, 1862, he lost his right arm. He was honorably discharged Oct. 28, same year. After the war he located in Pittsburgh, but later moved to Monongahela City. He settled in McKeesport in 1870, engaged in the lumber business, and since 1876 has been in partnership with John Shoup, of Allegheny, under firm name of John Shoup & Co.
In 1866 he married Anna A., daughter of Capt. C. Harvey, of Monongahela City, and has five children, one son and four daughters. Mr. Inskeep is a director of the Youghiogheny Ice company. He has served four terms as a member of the borough council, and three terms as burgess; in politics he is a stanch republican.
