Alfred H. Brown, liveryman, and one of the wide-awake, thorough going business men of Texas County, was born in Cattaraugus County, N. Y., January 28, 1853, and is the son of Charles and Angeline (Hardin) Brown. The father died about 1861, and the mother afterward married Frank Cummings, with whom she moved to Missouri. They settled in Audrain County in 1868, where Alfred H. Brown was educated, and where he grew to manhood. He was reared to agricultural pursuits, and this occupation he adopted and followed until 1882, when he moved to Texas County, settling at Cabool, where he has since been engaged in the livery business. He has all the requisites necessary for a first-class barn, and being a practical business man, and a genial, pleasant gentleman, would make a success of any undertaking, and especially of this. He was married in Texas County, November 25, 1885, to Miss E. A. Rust, who was born in that county May 28, 1868, and who is the daughter of J. R. Rust, a native of Missouri. To Mr. and Mrs. Brown’s marriage relations were born two children, both sons, Frank Earl and Charles Joseph. Mr. Brown is a member of the I. O. O. F., and a member of the city council.
