Isom N. Amos, of the firm of Wills & Amos, abstractors, loan and insurance agents, Neosho, Mo., was born in Carroll County, Ark., March 10, 1862, and is the son of Isom and Cynthia E. (Selby) Amos. The father was a native of Kentucky, and he and family came to this county in 1866. Isom N., the subject of this memoir, was reared principally in Newton County, Mo., and has since made his home here. His first business experience was in clerking for one year and a half, after which he entered the abstract office of James Sherwood, where he remained until Mr. Wills purchased an interest with Mr. Sherwood, and he then associated himself with R. M. Randle. In 1886 Mr. Amos sold his interest to Mr. Randle and purchased an interest in his present business. The firm has complete and reliable abstracts of all lands and town lots in the county, and represent as well some of the leading insurance companies of the county; also do a large business in placing loans. January 4, 1845, Mr. Amos married Miss Euretta Tappana, who was born in Iowa, May 20. 1865, and to them were born two children, boys, La Soir de Mont and Falcon de Wane. On April 3, 1888, Mr. Amos was elected to the office of police judge of the city of Neosho— the first police judge for the city.
