Below is a family biography included in The History of Jasper County, Missouri published by Mills & Company in 1883.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. SAMUEL W. FULLER, farmer and stock-raiser, section 25, post-office Carthage. Mr. Fuller is a native of Jasper county, Mo., born July 6, 1846. He is a son of John L. Fuller, who is a native of Wayne county, Mo., coming to Jasper in 1843 and locating on Center Creek, having married a short time before coming here. His wife, Martha Fuller, nee Ragan, was a daughter of John Ragan, now of Benton county, Ark., was for many years a resident of this county. During the war of the Rebellion Mr. Fuller was a member of Well’s Arkansas Battalion, C. S. A. He was killed in a skirmish in Arkansas in 1864, leaving a family of five sons and one daughter, the second of which is the subject of this sketch. S. W. Fuller was reared in Jasper county and when of sufficient age also became a member of Well’s Arkansas Battalion, C. S. A., and was in active service about one year. His regiment surrendered on the Red River. He lived one year in Texas, then re-located in Benton county, Ark., where he lived until 1877, when he returned to his first love, Jasper county. Mo. On the 14th of October, 1378, he was married to Miss Laura Allen, of Barton county, a native of South Carolina. They have two children, a son and a daughter respectively, Walter S., born Oct. 6, 1849; and Sinia Effie, born Oct. 29, 1882. His farm consisting of 160 acres, is well situated six miles southeast of Carthage, upon which Mr. Fuller is making many material improvements, with the intention of making this a permanent and pleasant home. He takes an active interest in the public weal. His mother is still a member of the household, as is also one sister who is a widow lady. Mr. Fuller has taken care of the family since the death of his father.
