Below is a family biography from the book, History of Kentucky, Edition 1 by J. H. Battle, W. H. Perrin and G. C. Kniffin and published by F. A. Battey Publishing Company in 1885.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. Family biographies often include far more information than can be found in a census record or obituary.  Details will vary with each biography but will often include the date and place of birth, parent names including mothers' maiden name, name of wife including maiden name, her parents' names, name of children (including spouses if married), former places of residence, occupation details, military service, church and social organization affiliations, and more.  There are often ancestry details included that cannot be found in any other type of genealogical record.

JOHN T. LITTLE was born November 12, 1850, in Graves County, Ky.; removed with his parents in 1852 to Fulton County, where he grew to manhood, and in 1872 came to Moscow, where he has since resided. His father, William Little, a native of Virginia, was born in 1820, and died in 1880. He was the son of John, a Virginian, who served in the war of 1812, and died in 1881. William married Sarah J., daughter of Elder Fleming Cayce, of Hickman County, and from this union sprang subject, Wade S., Anna (Hornsby), Martha E. (deceased), Joseph F., Hardy C. and Cynthia. April 23, 1874, John T. Little married Miss Susan A. daughter of W. B. and Sarah F. (Jaines) Milner, of Fulton County, and to them have been born Nina A. and Ira W. He commenced merchandising in 1872 at Moscow, has met with marked success, and now under the firm name of J. T. Little & Co., is extensively engaged in general merchandising and dealing in grain and produce.
