JOHN F. OWEN was born February 25, 1844, in Ballard County, Ky., where he continues to reside. His father, Rev. Joseph W. Owen, a native of Robertson County, Tenn., was born in 1810, and came to Ballard County, Ky., in 1844, where he died in 1873. He married Sarah, daughter of John Simmons, of Robertson County, born in 1813, and this union was blessed with William W., Lemuel T., Rev. Thomas J., John F. (subject), Sarah A. (Ashbrook), Joseph B., Jerritta E. (Stahl) and James O. Subject was married November 15, 1866, to Miss Julia A., daughter of Alfred and Anna E. (Chiles) Watwood, of Ballard County, and born January 23, 1851; to them have been born Lou W., Anna R., Thomas J., Oba J., Wilks U. and Ula B. Our subject is a farmer, having 103 acres of fine land in a high state of cultivation. He is a member of the A. F. & A. M., also an active member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and in politics a Democrat.
