Below is a family biography from the book, History of Kentucky, Edition 7 by J. H. Battle, W. H. Perrin and G. C. Kniffin and published by F. A. Battey Publishing Company in 1887.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. Family biographies often include far more information than can be found in a census record or obituary.  Details will vary with each biography but will often include the date and place of birth, parent names including mothers' maiden name, name of wife including maiden name, her parents' names, name of children (including spouses if married), former places of residence, occupation details, military service, church and social organization affiliations, and more.  There are often ancestry details included that cannot be found in any other type of genealogical record.

WILLIAM SABIN was born in Prussia, Europe, near Berlin, April 1, 1829, and is a son of Frederick and Mary (Mushik) Sabin. Frederick Sabin, a steamboat man, was born in 1795, and his wife was born December 18, 1810. William Sabin immigrated to Cincinnati, Ohio, August 1, 1850, where he followed barbering, and also engaged in the gents’ furnishing goods business for eight years, in Covington. In 1867 he opened a regular dry goods store on Main Street, and in 1881 built a fine large house on the corner of Fourth and Main Streets, where he now resides, and carries on his business. April 22, 1858, he married Josephine Hauler, a native of Europe, and daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Hauler. Three children have been born to them: Jennie, who married John Haley, of Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1884, who is a real estate agent there; William and Edward. Mr. Sabin belongs to the A. O. U. W., is a Protestant in religion, and a Republican in politics.
