RIDDICK, DABNEY C., attorney, Montrose; born in St. Louis in 1823; went to California in 1849, remained till 1852; in 1853, he made the official survey of Montrose, and located here permanently in 1859; engaged in the mercantile business for three years; then directed his attention to the legal profession, and has been engaged in the practice of law for the last ten years. Mr. Riddick received a liberal education at Kenyon College, Ohio; his father, Thomas F. Riddick, was a prominent citizen of St. Louis for many years; he was a member of the United States Board of Commissioners in 1816, that decided the land title of the old French and Spanish claims. He was a native of Virginia; removed to St. Louis in 1809, and died in 1830.
