SAMUEL P. HINMAN (deceased) was born in Missouri September 10, 1824. He was a son of Jonas and Deborah (Dunham) Hinman, who came to Warrick County, Ind., when Samuel was about four years of age. The father followed farming in this county until his death. Our subject was reared on the farm with his parents, receiving an ordinary education for the times. After he attained his majority, he bought a farm one and a half miles east of Boonville, where he lived and followed farming successfully until his death. He lived a Christian life and was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. In 1844 he married Esther Richardson, who bore him twelve children, seven of whom are living, named Jugurtha, Jordan, Deborah, John M., Jonas, Jacob and Lorah. His wife died in 1867, and upon the 3d of December, 1868, he married Nancy (Richardson) Baker, the widow of Ephraim Baker. The fruits of this union were two children, one of whom is living, named Hattie. His second wife is living on the homestead, which consists of 100 acres of well-improved land.
