HENRY GERLING, farmer; P. O. Saybrook; was born in Buffalo, N. Y., May 27, 1857. His father Henry was born in Mecklenberg, Swerin, Dec. 13, 1827, and his mother Nov. 22, 1825. When he was quite young, his parents removed to McLean Co., and settled two miles southwest of Bloomington, where they now reside. Mr. Gerling lived with them until he was 21 years of age, when he purchased and moved upon a farm in that neighborhood, and remained there until the spring of 1879, when he purchased his present farm on Sec. 21 of this township. He married, Feb. 1, 1877, Miss Resa Alberts, daughter of Adam and Dora Alberts, of Bloomington Township, in this county. Her father died, Feb. 15, 1863, and her mother married William Finger, of Bloomington Township, her present husband, who was born Feb. 16, 1814; she was born in 1810. Mrs. Gerling was born May 30, 1858. They have one child — Herman, born May 30, 1877.
