ATKINSON, MRS. KATE, (widow of Dr. Wm. Atkinson); residence 125 Maine street; was born in Lincolnshire, England, 1827; she was married in 1840; carne to this country with her husband in 1843. They located in Buffalo, New York, where Dr. Atkinson practiced medicine until 1847, when they moved to St. Louis, Mo.; returned to Buffalo 1849; finally located in Chicago where her husband died in 1855. She has five children: Albert, now a prominent farmer in Texas, Arthur, also a farmer in Iowa, William in California, Ella and Emma teaching in the public schools in Quincy. They are members of the Episcopal Church. Mrs. Atkinson, although left a widow with a young family, like a good mother, devoted her life to her children and gave them a liberal education, the fruits of which they are now receiving and sharing with her.
