Salisbury, Maryland, Old Green Hill Church, vintage postcard photo

Salisbury, Maryland, Old Green Hill Church, vintage postcard photo, Quantico, MD

A vintage postcard of the Old Green Hill Church, near Salisbury, Maryland. This historic church building was constructed in 1733 (the 1773 date printed on the card is in error) at the location of what was intended to be a settlement known as Green Hill Town. The town of Green Hill never took off but the old church building still remains although there are no regular services held here. Now known as St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church, a celebration of St. Bartholomew's Day is held here each year in late August. The church building is located on Green Hill Church Road, west of Salisbury and south of Quantico in Wicomico County, Maryland. This postcard view was postmarked in 1911.
