Christ Church, Alexandria, Virginia, Where Washington Worshipped. This vintage postcard view shows the adjoining cemetery. Among those buried here are the bodies of Confederate prisoners who had died at the former Slave Pen that had been converted to a prison for Confederate prisoners of war. These soldiers were originally buried in the Soldiers Cemetery in Alexandria but were transferred here in 1879 by the Daughters of the Confederacy. (see links below)
