A photo of the outlaw Frank James of the James Gang, dated 1898 when Frank was 55 years old. After the assassination of his bother, Jesse James, Frank surrendered to Governor Crittenden of Missouri. He then spent some time in jails awaiting trials but was not convicted of any of the crimes he was charged with and served no time as the result of an conviction. He was never tried for his role in the Northfield Raid at Northfield, Minnesota.

Alexander Franklin "Frank" James, born January 10, 1843 on the James family farm near Kearney in Clay County, Missouri; died February 18, 1915 on the same James family farm he was born on, age 72. He was buried in Hill Park Cemetery, Independence, Missouri.
