Cole Younger, portrait, 1915, historic photo

An historic photo of Cole Younger of the Younger Brothers, members of the famed James Gang. Cole Younger and his brothers Bob and Jim were captured after the failed Northfield, Minnesota bank robbery in 1876. As a result, Cole was sentenced to a life sentence and served twenty-five years in a Minnesota prison from 1876 to 1901. Cole Younger and Frank James afterward spent several years lecturing about their experiences with a traveling wild west show. He lived his last years on his farm in Lees Summit, Missouri. This photo is from late in his life, probably about 1915.

Cole Younger, born January 15, 1844, Jackson County, Missouri; died March 21, 1916, Lees Summit, Missouri, age 72.
