The grave and tombstone of Norman Rockwell, Stockbridge, Massachusetts. Rockwell was born February 3, 1894, in New York City, New York. During a lifelong career of more than sixty five years, Rockwell produced more than 4,000 paintings. Among his most well known works were the cover art for Saturday Evening Post, Boys' Life and numerous other magazines. In addition, Rockwell paintings were widely featured as book and calendar illustrations. While art critics often dismissed Rockwell as merely an illustrator, not a true artist, the public loved his work. In 1977, Rockwell was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian award. Several Rockwell paintings have since sold for millions of dollars with the highest sale thus far being Saying Grace which sold at auction in 2013 for $46 million. Numerous original Rockwell paintings are on display at the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.

Norman Rockwell died of emphysema at the age of 84 on November 8, 1978 in Stockbridge, Massachusetts and is buried in the Stockbridge Cemetery. See the additional photos below.
