Below is a family biography included in The History of Williamson County, Tennessee published by Goodspeed Publishing Company in 1887.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. GEORGE M. KITTRELL, son of M. J. and Annie A. (Hunter) Kittrell, was born December, 20, 1829, near Mount Pleasant, Maury County. The parents were born in North Carolina, and about 1814 the father came to Tennessee and followed the occupation of farming. To him and wife were born seven children: Riddic, Loretta, Martha, Jacob, George M., Armesa and Eudora. George M., Reddic and Loretta are the only ones living. The father died in 1874 and the mother in 1854 or 1855. George M. attended the Mount Pleasant school, and in 1855 was united in marriage to Miss Anna W. Fleming, daughter of Thomas F. Fleming. They have five children: Whitney F., Laura R., William H., Thomas F. and Annie A. At the breaking out of the war Mr. Kittrell was living in Arkansas and enlisted in McNeal’s regiment (Infantry), and was in many engagements. After the war he lived in Mount Pleasant, Tenn., nine years, and in 1875 located on a farm in Williamson County, where he has since resided. He is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church South, and is a good citizen.
