Below is a family biography included in The History of Lincoln County, Tennessee published by Goodspeed Publishing Company in 1886.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. JOHN A. TAYLOR, merchant and farmer, and a son of John A. and Elizabeth(Stubblefield) Taylor, was born in Lincoln County in 1849. The father was also a native of Lincoln County, born about 1810. He was married about 1838, and became the father of eleven children seven of whom are living. He was a tiller of the soil, and at the time of his death which occurred April, 1850, owned about 325 acres of good land. The mother was born in Lincoln County about the same time as her husband, and died March, 1873. Our subject was reared by a mother’s tender care, his father having died when he was but an infant. He received his education in the district schools, and December 8, 1870, was married to Mary E. Reynolds, daughter of John and Malinda Reynolds, by whom he had seven children, four of whom are living, viz.: Ella, Alda O., John A. and C. Wilson. At the time of his marriage our subject was engaged in the grocery business at Kelso where he continues to reside. In 1873 he purchased a stock of general merchandise, and is now carrying a stock to the value of about $800. He now owns real estate in the village besides a valuable farm of 150 acres in the Twenty-third District. Mr. Taylor is at present depot agent at Kelso. He is a member of the I. O. O. F. and of the K. of H., and he and Mrs. Taylor are members of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Taylor was born in Franklin County, in 1846, and her parents were also natives of the same county.
