Thomas H. Meredith, livery man of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., was born in Giles County, Tenn., May 23, 1846, and is a son of Thomas H. and Jane J. (Hodge) Meredith, both natives of Giles County, Tenn., where the father followed farming successfully until his death, in 1860, and the mother died in November, 1882. Our subject was reared in Pulaski and educated in Giles College. In 1861 he enlisted in Company K, First Regiment Tennessee Infantry, Confederate Army, and served until the close of the war. He then returned home and engaged in agricultural pursuits until 1875, after which he traveled, selling nursery stock until 1880. He then engaged in the livery business in Pulaski until March, 1883, when he came to Lawrenceburg and erected his present large and commodious stable and engaged in the livery business, which he has continued to the present time. He has met with good and well deserved success, having a monopoly of the trade in the town and county. He is a Democrat in politics, and is recognized as one of the enterprising and reliable business men of Lawrence County. Mr. Meredith received a slight wound in the head at Cheat Mountain, and a serious wound in the body at Missionary Ridge; he also was slightly wounded in the foot at Perryville, Ky.
