Below is a family biography included in The History of Dyer County, Tennessee published by Goodspeed Publishing Company in 1887.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. W. A. Jetton was born in Haywood County May 6, 1847, and now resides in Dyer County in the First District. He was one of five children, his parents being John B. and Isabella (Steward) Jetton. His father was of French origin, born in Middle Tennessee in 1816, and moved to West Tennessee in 1846, locating in Haywood County, but now lives in Crockett County. In addition to farming he owned a grist-mill and steam cotton-gin. His mother was born in Rutherford County in 1824, and died in 1851, her ancestors being early settlers of Haywood County. W. A. Jetton, our subject, was married in 1874 to Miss Sallie, daughter of N. C. and Susan G. Warren. Mrs. Jetton was born in Dyer County in 1856. By this union were five children: Warren, James, Johnnie, Willie and Emerson. In 1875 he located two miles southeast of Dyersburg, owning 210 acres of land. In connection with farming he has taught school for a number of sessions, and owns a cotton-gin, besides dealing in cotton. September, 1885, he bought a stock of goods and commenced merchandising. June, 1886, a post office, named Hendricks, after the late Vice-President, was established at his place. Mr. Jetton is a good Democrat, a man interested in the advancement of his county, and has the confidence of all who know him.
