W. A. YOUNG, Bennett, was born Dec. 15, 1850, in Pine township, this county, son of Henry and Catharine (Wyland) Young, former of whom was a native of Hessen-Darmstadt, Germany, and came to America in 1837, and is now in the seventy-first year of his life, and highly respected. His wife was a native of Alsace, Germany, and came to America in 1827; they were married in 1840, and were the parents of nine children. W. A. Young was reared on a farm, received a common-school education, and when seventeen years old learned the shoemaker’s trade, which he followed in Millvale until 1880,when he was elected justice of the peace. Mr. Young has dealt largely in real estate, also in the insurance business, in all of which he has been very successful. He has always been a republican.
