Below is a family biography included in the History of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania published in 1889 by A. Warner & Co.   These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. SAMUEL PERKINS KUHN, farmer, post office New Texas, was born in 1839 in the stone house where he now resides, a son of Harvy Michael and Margaret (Stotler) Kuhn, who were born in Plum township in 1812 and May 17, 1817, respectively. His father was a farmer, a member of the Presbyterian Church, and died in June, 1860. His mother is a member of the Presbyterian Church. His grandfather, Samuel, was a native of Pennsylvania, and served in the war of 1812. He bought four farms here about 1820, and in 1830 moved to near Cleveland, Ohio. Mr. Kuhn received his schooling here, and at the death of his father began to operate the farm for himself. He married, in 1877, Anna E. Geisler, formerly of East End, Pittsburgh, a daughter of David Geisler, who died in 1884. Two sons bless this union, Elmer P. and David Homer. The family are members of the Presbyterian Church. Mr. Kuhn is a republican and was at one time deputy sheriff of the county.
