PIERRE MOURER, wagon-maker, post office Chartiers, a son of Nicholas and Anna Mourer, was born in Germany in 1853. He served ten months in the Franco-Prussian war of 1870-71, and came to America in 1872, locating in Pittsburgh. He learned the trade of a wagon-maker, which he has followed since coming to America. His mother died in 1865, at the age of forty-six years, and his father in 1885, at the age of ninety. Pierre Mourer married, Feb. 19, 1875, Mary, daughter of Jacob and Theresa May, of this county. They have seven children: Mary (died in infancy), Theresa, Jacob, Louis, Annie, Clara and Peter. Mr. Mourer is a member of the Knights of St. George. He and Mrs. Mourer are members of the Catholic Church.
