LOUIS STOCKER, merchant, post office West Elizabeth, son of John G. and Elizabeth Stocker, was born in Wurtemberg, Germany, in 1841. When between the ages of seven and eight years he was called to mourn the loss of both parents. In 1860 he immigrated to this country, and located in this county, where he worked at shoemaking. In 1872 he married Catharina, daughter of Adam Schutz, of Coal Valley, Allegheny county, Pa. They have reared eight children: Annie E., Mary, Lizzie, Catharina, George, Louis F., William C. and Ernst H. Mr. and Mrs. Stocker are members of the Lutheran Church. On coming here he purchased his present residence and place of business, and embarked in the boot and shoe trade, which he still follows. He is a democrat.
