JOHN GRAU, grocer, Sharpsburg. was born in Allegheny county, Pa., in 1860, a son of Conrad and Margaret (Polster) Grau, natives of Germany, who immigrated to America in 1854. He received a common-school education at Etna, and early in life commenced work in the iron-mills at that place, in which he continued until 1886, when he commenced his present business at corner of Middle and Thirteenth streets, Sharpsburg. Mr. Grau married, in 1884, Barbara, daughter of John Fug, of Allegheny county, and two children have been born to them: Bertha and Margaret. Mr. Grau is a member of the Mystic Chain, Jr. O. U. A. M., and of the Lutheran Church; he is a republican.
