JAMES GRIERSON, farmer, post office Carrick, was born Aug. 7, 1850, in Allegheny county, Pa., a son of John and Marion (Muckle) Grierson, natives of Scotland, former of whom came to America when a lad and successfully followed gardening in Brownstown up to the time of his death. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, as was also his wife, who survived him until March 18, 1885. She was the mother of three children: James, Elizabeth and Mrs. Matilda Semmelrock. The subject of this memoir was educated in this county, and has followed gardening and farming successfully, having a farm of twenty acres. He married here, Jan. 5, 1882, Mary, daughter of Thomas Butler, and they have two children, Walter and Milton. Mr. and Mrs. Grierson are members of the Presbyterian Church; he is a republican.
