Below is a family biography included in the History of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania published in 1889 by A. Warner & Co.   These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. JACOB WEINMAN, coal-operator, Wilkinsburg, was born in Wurtemberg, Germany, in 1842, son of Casper and Dorothea (Bulling) Weinman, who came to America in 1853, and located at McKeesport. The father was a miller, and died in 1858, aged fifty-eight; his widow died in 1884, at the age of seventy-two. Following are the names of their children: Mary (Kraft), deceased; Matthias, in Pittsburgh; Veronica (Kreider), in Wilkinsburg; Christina (Rudolph), in Buena Vista; Jacob and Dorothea (Lamp). When thirteen years old, Jacob Weinman commenced mining in a coal pit, and continued at same seventeen years. For the last seventeen years he has been an operator of mines about Wilkinsburg, and is now owner of four hundred acres in Penn, Wilkins and Sterrett townships. In 1888 he built his handsome residence, corner of Coal and Franklin streets, and is the owner of six houses in the borough. He is a member of the Masonic fraternity, a Lutheran in religious faith, and a republican in politics. In 1862 he married Anna Barbara Vogel, a native of the same locality as himself, and they have six children living: Jacob, Emma (Mrs. Herbert Crotty), Joshua, Minnie, Dorothea and Anna Belle. Three died in infancy: Charles, William and James.
