Below is a family biography included in the History of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania published in 1889 by A. Warner & Co.   These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. HENRY POELLOT, wagon-manufacturer, Bridgeville, is a native of Germany, born in 1828, the youngest son of the nine children of John S. and Barbara (Schmidt) Poellot. At the age of thirteen he learned the wagon-maker’s trade, serving an apprenticeship of three years, and in company with a brother came to America in 1847. Soon after his arrival he located in Pittsburgh, and there remained until 1852; came to Bridgeville in 1859, where he has since resided. He married Louisa, daughter of Louis and Elizabeth (Gass) Trax, and ten children were born to them, eight living: John Lewis, William H., George W., Mary Bell, Louisa Adella (Mrs. Patton), Walter T., Nellie Elnora and Cordelia Irene. Mr. Poellot superintends the work in his shops, assisted by his sons, and has through his own personal ambition secured what he owns today. He has been school director fifteen years, and has been an elder in the Presbyterian Church same length of time; he is a prohibitionist.
