A. G. P. RITCHEY, the father of S. C., was a carpenter, following farming at the same time and in 1885 retired from active life. He was married to Mahala J. Holdsinger, and they had seven children. The subject of this sketch was born and educated in this county, and his early life was spent on a farm in Sewickley township. In 1871 he engaged as clerk with Chamberlin & Co., remaining with them until 1883, when he commenced business for himself. He keeps a general store, except dry goods, and has built up a good business. Politically he is a republican, and is a member of the K. of P. and K. of H., and of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
