JOHN NICHOLSON, farmer; P. O. Piqua; he is a son of Samuel Nicholson a native of Kentucky, who, in 1815, emigrated to Ohio, and located in Piqua; he worked at the carpenter’s trade, and helped build the first schoolhouse in the town; about the year 1820, he entered a quarter-section of land in the north part of Newberry Township, and began the labor of opening a farm. The subject of this sketch was born in December, 1820, upon the Trotter farm; his principal occupation has been farming. His marriage with Henrietta, a daughter of Harvey Buchanan, was celebrated April 1, 1851; they had three children, two of whom are living, William P. and Emma.
