JAMES WAGONER, farmer; P. O. Piqua; was born in Montgomery Co., Ohio, Sept. 14, 1824, and is a son of John Wagoner, who was a native of Ohio, born June 9, 1801, and died in 1874; in 1818, he located in Montgomery Co. In 1823, he married Catherine Houser, who was born in Virginia in 1805, and died in Montgomery Co., Ohio, in 1861; they were the parents of seven children, of whom two are dead and five living, of whom James is the oldest; he was brought up to farming, received a limited education. Feb. 2, 1854, he married Miss Elizabeth Miller, who was born in Greene Co., Ohio, and died Dec. 7, 1856, at the age of 27 years. One child was born to them, John F., born Nov. 18, 1854. Our subject again married, for his second wife, Josephine McSherry, who was born in Piqua, May 3, 1845. They have two children, viz., Catherine J. and Anna B. Mr. Wagoner came to this county in 1848, and has since bought 30 acres of land in Sec. 17, on the Piqua & Urbana Pike.
