Below is a family biography included in The History of Brown County, Ohio published by W. H. Beers & Co. in 1883.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. MRS. MARY MONAHAN, P. O. Fayetteville, daughter of James and Mary Terrell, was born in Ireland, and came to the United States in 1839, and resided in Hamilton, Butler Co., Ohio, where she was married in 1842 to Peter Connorton, by whom she had two daughters — Catharine (wife of John Kelly, farmer in this township) and Sarah (wife of James Conlin, machinist in Hamilton, Ohio). Her husband died in December 1848, and she again married in Hamilton in September, 1850, to James Monahan, by whom she has three children — James, Hugh and Eliza. Mr. Monahan died April 12, 1858(?). They came to this township in 1856 and bought 251 acres of land where Mrs. M. now lives, two miles northwest of Fayetteville, she still owns 190 acres. The family are all members of the Catholic Church.
