Below is a family biography included in The History of Wright County, Missouri published by Goodspeed Publishing Company in 1889.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. T. H. Marshall, agent and operator for the Gulf Railroad at Norwood, Mo., was born in Knox County, Mo., October 25, 1849, and is a son of William P. and Sarah A. (Herrington) Marshall. The father was born in Maryland in 1813, and after attaining manhood went to Ralls County, Mo., where he was married, his wife being a native of that county. He began merchandising in Kirksville, afterward farmed on Salt River, in that county, and after residing in Lewis County for some time, moved to St. Clair, where he died in 1872. His union with Miss Herrington resulted in the birth of eight children, T. H. Marshall being their third child. The latter was reared to manhood near Monticello, Mo., and received his education in the schools of that place. After acquiring an excellent knowledge of telegraphy he came to Norwood, where he has held his present position for over six years. He was married in this place to Miss Julia E. Wood, a native of Nashville, Ill., born January 13, 1867, and by her is the father of one child, Ollie. Mrs. Marshall is a daughter of B. F. and L. L. Wood, and a granddaughter of Maj. Wood, who was a soldier in the Mexican War, a pioneer of the State of Illinois, and was at one time a presidential elector for the same. Mr. Marshall is a Democrat in politics, is a man of excellent business qualifications, and thoroughly understands the business in which he is engaged.
