Below is a family biography included in The History of Wright County, Missouri published by Goodspeed Publishing Company in 1889.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. M. G. Hensley, grocer, of Mansfield, Mo., was born in East Tennessee in 1852, and is a son of William and Elizabeth Hensley, who were born in Tennessee, the former’s birth occurring in 1829, They were married in their native State, and in the fall of 1868 immigrated to Missouri, locating in Wright County, and now residing two miles north of Mansfield. The paternal grandfather, Benjamin Hensley, was of English descent, and lived and died in Tennessee. He was a soldier in the Mexican War, and for his services in that struggle received a pension. M. G. Hensley was seventeen years old when he came to Wright County, Mo., and his early days were spent in assisting his father on the home farm. He was first married to Miss Sarah White, who died in 1882, and he then married Mary E. Gorman, widow of John Gorman, and daughter of Mr. Rudd. Three children were born to her marriage with Mr. Gorman, and one child was born to her last marriage, Frank, who died at the age of two years. Mr. Hensley was in the mail service for three years, and entered the drug business in Mansfield in 1883, with a stock valued at $7,000. Two years later he closed out his establishment and began selling groceries, this stock amounting to $800. Mrs. Hensley owns the Hensley Hotel in Mansfield, which they successfully managed for about five years, but they now have it rented. Mr. Hensley is a Republican.
