Thomas G. Cardwell was born in Greene County, Mo., March 16, 1848, and remained with and assisted his father on the farm until he attained his majority. In 1868 he was married to Miss Martha Phillips, who was born and reared in Webster County, and by her is the father of eight children: Albert L., Robert E., Jesse N., William E., Thomas A., Mattie R., Eugenia B. and Susan D. They have a good farm of 125 acres, on which they have resided since 1873, and have 100 acres of land under cultivation, with a neat residence and good barns. The family worship in the Baptist Church, and are considered among the prominent citizens of the county.
