Below is a family biography included in The History of Webster County, Missouri published by Goodspeed Publishing Company in 1889.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. Family biographies often include far more information than can be found in a census record or obituary.  Details will vary with each biography but will often include the date and place of birth, parent names including mothers' maiden name, name of wife including maiden name, her parents' names, name of children (including spouses if married), former places of residence, occupation details, military service, church and social organization affiliations, and more.  There are often ancestry details included that cannot be found in any other type of genealogical record.

Samuel C. Trimble. In every calling in life, whether of a professional, commercial or agricultural nature, there are always some men who attain the highest round in the ladder of success, and such a man is Mr. Trimble, who is a prosperous merchant of Seymour, Mo., and was born in what is now Webster County, Mo., on the 9th of April, 1850. His parents, Judge John C. and Rhoda (Proctor) Trimble, were born, reared and married in Kentucky, and about 1837 moved to Missouri, locating in what is now Webster County, where they cleared a farm and reared their family. He was elected the first judge of Webster County, and served sixteen consecutive years, and in January, 1883, engaged in the mercantile business in Seymour, the firm name being J. C. & S. C. Trimble. This business he carried on until his death, August 26, 1887. Samuel C. Trimble was reared to a farm life until sixteen years of age, and after working at the milling business for eight years in Webster County, began merchandising at Waldo, where he remained four years. The two following years were spent in the same business at Hardwell, and after the railroad was built at Seymour he located at this point, where he has since been a successful merchant, and carries a large and select stock of general merchandise. He also sells lumber for railroad purposes, and in every enterprise in which he has been engaged his efforts have been attended with the best of success. He was married in Wright County, Mo., on the 19th of December, 1872, to Miss Laura B. Freeman, a daughter of Littleton Freeman. She was born and reared in Wright County, and is the mother of three children: Anna Lee, Fannie May and Samuel K. Mr. and Mrs. Trimble are members of the Christian and Baptist Churches, respectively, and he is a Master Mason, and is Junior Warden of his lodge.
