Below is a family biography included in The History of Osage County, Missouri published by Goodspeed Publishing Company in 1889.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. Family biographies often include far more information than can be found in a census record or obituary.  Details will vary with each biography but will often include the date and place of birth, parent names including mothers' maiden name, name of wife including maiden name, her parents' names, name of children (including spouses if married), former places of residence, occupation details, military service, church and social organization affiliations, and more.  There are often ancestry details included that cannot be found in any other type of genealogical record.

Frank H. Luebbert, a farmer and stock-raiser of Washington township, Osage County, residing one-half mile north of Westphalia, was born upon the farm where he now lives, January 2, 1857, and is a son of Joseph and Theresa (Hueser) Luebbert, natives of Prussia. Joseph Luebbert was born in 1825, and when a young man immigrated to this country, and first located in Osage County, Mo., where he only remained about one year when he went to California, and the following five years engaged in mining; at the expiration of that time he returned to Osage County, Mo., and purchased the farm our subject now owns. In 1856 Joseph Luebbert went to St. Louis, and there married Theresa Hueser, who was born in Prussia October 21, 1826, and came to this country in 1855. To this union were born two children, Henry, who died at the age of eleven years, and Frank H. Joseph Luebbert died March 5, 1876, and his widow May 2, 1887. Frank H. Luebbert attended the common schools of Westphalia and remained with his parents until sixteen years of age, when he entered Jones Commercial College, of St. Louis, from which he graduated July 17, 1876. Upon the death of his father he assumed control of the farm, and has ever since been engaged in the pursuit of agriculture, teaching school during the winter several terms. October 18, 1887, he married Elizabeth Ortmeyer, who was born in Westphalia, Osage County, October 21, 1872, and is a daughter of Henry and Christena Ortmeyer, natives of Prussia, the father born in 1820 and the mother in 1831; the latter died February 8, 1885, and the father is now living in Osage County. Mr. and Mrs. Ortmeyer have four children, viz.: Stephen, Catherine, Ferdinand and Elizabeth. Mr. Luebbert owns 240 acres of land, about eighty-five acres of which are under cultivation. He is an enterprising farmer and an influential citizen of the county. In politics he is a Democrat. Mr. and Mrs. Luebbert have one child, named Leona, born July 24, 1888.
