William Rambo is a farmer and miner of Newton County, Mo., and is a good illustration of what can be accomplished by industry and steady, persevering effort. He was born in Logan County, Ohio, in 1855, and is a son of Thomas and Mary (Hoge) Rambo. The latter died when William was quite young, and it maybe said that he was reared by strangers; without knowing a mother’s love, counsel or advice. The father was a farmer and engineer, and served in the Federal army during the late war. William lived in Ohio until eighteen years of age, and then went to Kansas, but after a two years’ residence there moved to Texas, where he resided nine months. Since that time he has resided in Newton County. He followed mining for twelve years, and by industry and prudence has acquired sufficient means to purchase the farm on which he now resides, embracing 125 acres. Notwithstanding his few early advantages, Mr. Rambo is very well posted on the general topics of the day and stands high in the estimation of the people with whom he associates. In 1880 he married Miss Mary Painter, a native of Missouri, and by her is the father of two children. Dick T. and Willie. Mr. Rambo is a member of the I. O. O. F.
