Below is a family biography included in The History of Newton County, Missouri published by Goodspeed Publishing Company in 1888.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. Hon. William I. Price. In sketching briefly the life of Mr. Price there is to say that he was born in Williamson County, Tenn., July 31,1827. His father, John H. Price, was a North Carolinian, and his mother, whose maiden name was Sallie Burgess, was born in Georgia. William I. Price is the eldest of their eleven children. He was reared in his native State, and spent the happy and healthy life of the farmer’s boy. From Tennessee he removed to Hancock County, Ill., where he remained until 1870, at which time he came to Newton County, Mo., whither his father’s family had come in 1853, and where the mother died in 1874. He was employed in different positions, acting as deputy sheriff, assessor, etc., until elected to his present position, that of judge of the probate court of Newton County. He has proved a successful and able judge, and in his social life is much respected and esteemed. In 1852 he was united in marriage with Elizabeth Slatterly, of Hancock County, Ill., who died in 1881, leaving nine children: Josie C. (Mrs. H. C. Armstrong), Alice (wife of T. W. Graves), Sallie (wife of C. T. Clark), Ella (wife of Sterling P. Henges), Houston S., Willie C., Lillie, Floyd and Garland.
