William H. T. Green, cashier of the Granby Mining and Smelting Company, was born in La Fayette County, Wis., September 9, 1857, and is a son of John and Margaret (Maddrill) Green, who were both born in England. The father was reared to the smelting business, particularly lead and silver, and became very proficient in the same in after life. In 1854 he immigrated to the United States, located in La Fayette County, Wis., and engaged in mercantile pursuits. In 1873 he removed to Granby. Mo., and entered the employ of the Granby Mining and Smelting Company, holding a position of trust and responsibility for a number of years. William H. T. Green came to Missouri with his parents, and on January 1, 1875, he also entered the employ of the Granby Mining and Smelting Company, with which he has ever since been connected. It is hardly necessary to comment on the reasons for a continuous service of thirteen years with the same company; suffice it to say that Mr. Green has risen step by step from the minor position held in 1875 to the one he now occupies. He was married September 14, 1879, to Miss Addie G. Clark, also a native of Wisconsin, and she is the mother of three children: Edna, Bertha and Marie. Mr. Green is a member of the A. F. & A. M., and is one of the highly respected citizens of the county.
