William David Stockstill, farmer, of Section 34, was born in Lawrence County, Mo., December 12, 1852, and is the son of Zebedee and Rebecca (Williams) Stockstill, the former a native of Tennessee, and the latter of old Virginia. The father was a farmer and stock dealer by occupation. He lost his life the second year of the war, having been murdered while on a trip to the South. The mother is now living, and is the worthy wife of Dudley Trimble, of Dade County, Mo. Her son, William David Stockstill, was reared to manhood in Newton County, Mo., and engaged in farming and stock raising as an occupation. He was married in Lawrence County, Mo., to the youngest daughter and child of Timothy and Margaret (Wells) Davis. Two sons are the result of Mr. and Mrs. Stockstill’s marriage, named as follows: William Emery and Columbus Cromwell. Mr. Stockstill is a successful farmer, and is the owner of a good farm of 297 acres. He has served as a member of the school board.
