Martin Alexander Weems, farmer and stock raiser, was born in Franklin Township, Newton Co., Mo., Septembar 27, 1847, son of George Wright and Nancy Frances (Vestal) Weems, both natives of Greene County, Tenn. George Wright Weems was a son of Jones and Bethenia Weems. Jones Weems was a native of North Carolina, but was reared in Greene County, Tenn. Martin Alexander was one of three sons and four daughters born to his parents, all deceased but two sons and one daughter. M. A. Weems married Miss L. A. Kenney, a daughter of Harmon and Nancy (Price) Kenney, and to their marriage were born two sons and one daughter: Phidella V., Don Muton and Edith. Mr. Weems has been a member of the school board of his district for some time, and he and his wife attend the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. He has a good farm of 400 acres, nicely improved, and is engaged in rearing stock. From 1871 to 1880 he carried on a milling business.
