Below is a family biography included in The History of Newton County, Missouri published by Goodspeed Publishing Company in 1888.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. Isaac North, son of Reuben and Mary Ann (Webster) North, was born at Louth, in Lincolnshire, England, May 14, 1834. The parents were both natives of Lincolnshire, England, the father being a shoemaker by trade. In 1850 they immigrated to America, and located in Kenosha County, Wis. While growing to maturity Isaac, the subject of this memoir, learned in England the trade of bricklayer and plasterer, and after coming to America followed the trade at several places. He located in Newton County, Mo., in 1866, and here has since remained engaged in farming and the rearing of live stock. Mr. North was married in Canada in 1859 to Miss Sarah Matilda Kent, a daughter of Cartwright and Caroline Matilda (Smith) Kent, the former a native of Lincolnshire and the latter of London,. England. To Mr. and Mrs. North were born an interesting family of four children living, named as follows: Arthur Cartwright, Joseph H., Charles E. and George Reuben. Mr. North has served as justice of the peace for a number of years; has been deputy sheriff, and is a member of the school board. He is a member of the I. O. O. F., and was a charter member of the early Grange movement.
