George W. Prigmore, a prosperous young farmer of Marion Township, Newton Co., Mo., was born in Jasper County, Mo., December 5, 1859, and is the only son of John and Mary (Lee) Prigmore. John Prigmore died in Newton County, Mo., and his wife died at Tom Thumb’s Springs, Ark. They were the parents of three children: Martha A. (now the wife of E. Yount), George W. and Rosa (wife of Charles Low). George W. secured his education in his native county, remaining with his parents until he was nineteen years of age, when he began work for himself. His marriage with Almeda Schleppy was celebrated November 20, 1884. She was born in Ohio, and is a daughter of Frederick and Louis Schleppy; her mother is now residing in Jasper County, Mo., where Mr. Schleppy died. Mr. Prigmore early chose farming as his life’s vocation, and purchased his present place in 1885, which contains eighty acres, fifty-five of which are under cultivation. He and his wife are the parents of one child, Leora. In politics Mr. Prigmore endorses and supports the principles of the Republican party. He is a member of the Newton County Farmers’ Alliance.
