Flemmon R. Dummit, superintendent of ranch for Missouri Land and Live Stock Co., of Neosho, Mo., was born in Barry County, Mo., May 3, 1859, and is the son of Hiram C. Dummit, who was born and reared in Kentucky. The maiden name of the mother was Tranquilla Bowlen, who was born in Tennessee. The father was a farmer by occupation, and moved to Barry County, Mo., in 1868. Of the twelve children born to their marriage, Flemmon R. is the eldest. He attained his growth in his native county, on his father’s farm, and. like his father, devoted his entire time to agricultural pursuits until February 22, 1887, when he entered upon his present duties, and has proven himself a good and efficient man for that position, having filled the same to the satisfaction of all concerned. September 4, 1881, he chose for his life’s companion Miss Mary L. Marbut, who was born in Barry County, Mo. This union resulted in the birth of three children: Bertie, Manford and Louisa G.
